Health Department of Thane Municipal Corporation renders health services to public at large. This includes preventive and curative services.

The Preventive Services Includes

  1. Routine Immunization.
  2. Pulse Polio Programs.
  3. IEC Activities Health Promotion, Specific Protection, Early Diagnosis and Treatment, Disability Limitation and Rehabilitation are the basis principles of the type of work in Health Department.
  4. Health Department of Thane Municipal Corporation has25 Health Centers & 5 Maternity Homes to provide preventive and curative services.
    1. A 500 Bedded Hospital: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, Kalwa.
    2. A Medical College:- Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, Kalwa.
    3. A Nursing College: Smt. Meenatai Thakare Nursing College. Through Health Centers various community level activities are carried out as well as Treatment is given on OPD basis.
  5. Gynecologist and Pediatric Specialist services are available at Maternity Homes Normal and Assisted Deliveries are conducted at Maternity Home level.
  6. Specialist and Super specialist services are available at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital.
  7. Besides these Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Program and PC-PNDT Programs are conducted through Health Department. Special efforts are taken to Undertake " Save the Girl Child" Program.
